Disney Tsum Tsum - November 2016 Villains Event

The event (finally) started this morning!! So far most of the main missions (the ones necessary to clear the bosses) I've seen are pretty easy. A few of the ones to get to treasure boxes are a bit trickier, but still easier than bingo missions! Each of the bosses gives you mini-missions (e.g. make a 4 chain, make a 5 combo) during each play. Each mini-mission pops up as soon as you finish the previous one, during the same play, and you take down the boss's "HP" based on how many mini-missions you clear.

Here are the maps with numbers added for reference. I'll update the list of missions for each as I clear more of them. Nov 23 edit: finally cleared them all and updated everything! Missions only become available when you've cleared the preceding one.

Door 1: Evil Queen
Snow White gives bonuses (e.g. some % bonus of tsums cleared, a few extra combos counted toward your score, etc.). Despite having Snow White, I ended up using Donald (skill level 1) for the combo missions and Rattle Bones Pluto (skill level 3) for most of the other ones because the bonus wasn't enough to offset the loss from using a MyTsum that didn't work as well.

Mission 1: Create a 15 combo in 1 play
Mission 2: Clear 1,000 Tsum Tsum in total
Mission 3: Clear 6 Magical Bubbles in 1 play
Mission 4: Earn 1,400 coins in total
Mission 5: Activate skills 5 times in 1 play
Mission 6: Clear the Evil Queen's missions! This is the only mission I found Snow White to be helpful for (she gives a 50% bonus on the HP per mission you take down).
Mission 7: Create an 80 combo in 1 play
Mission 8: Activate skills 24 times in total. Reward: Premium Ticket
Mission 9: Make a 25 chain in 1 play (this one was tricky. I used Dale, used the skill twice without clearing all the Chip's, and tried again until I got a lucky run)
Mission 10: Enter fever 25 times in total
Mission 11: Create a 100 combo in 1 play
Mission 12: Clear 3,000 Tsum Tsum in total. Reward: Skill Ticket

Door 2: Ursula
Ariel gives bonuses, but I only used her for the "boss battle" against Ursula.

Mission 13: Enter fever 3 times in 1 play
Mission 14: Make a 12 chain in 1 play
Mission 15: Clear 80 MyTsum in 1 play
Mission 16: Clear 8 Magical Bubbles in 1 play
Mission 17: Earn 350 coins in 1 play
Mission 18: Clear 10 Big Tsum Tsum in total
Mission 19: Clear 2 Time Bubbles in 1 play (I used Genie skill level 2, as one of his skills makes random bubbles including special ones)
Mission 20: Beat Ursula! I used Ariel
Mission 21: Activate skills 4 times in 1 play
Mission 22: Create an 85 combo in 1 play
Mission 23: Clear 500 Tsum Tsum in 1 play
Mission 24: Earn 4,000 coins in total. Reward: Premium Ticket
Mission 25: Earn 50,000,000 points in total
Mission 26: Clear 20 Big Tsum Tsum in total
Mission 27: Clear 100 Magical Bubbles in total
Mission 28: Clear 30 Time Bubbles in total Reward: Skill Ticket? (unconfirmed as I haven't cleared this yet)

Door 3: Maleficent Dragon
Princess Aurora gives bonuses. I don't have her but cleared through the boss anyway with Donald and Rattle Bones Pluto.

Mission 29: Clear 1 Star Bubbles in 1 play
Mission 30: Earn 1,000 EXP in total
Mission 31: Clear 3 Big Tsum Tsum in 1 play
Mission 32: Make a 20 chain in 1 play
Mission 33: Create a 65 combo in 1 play
Mission 34: Clear 10 Magical Bubbles in 1 play
Mission 35: Enter fever 5 times in 1 play
Mission 36: Clear Maleficent Dragon's missions!
Mission 37: Clear 3 Time Bubbles in 1 play (I used Genie for this)
Mission 38: Activate skills 20 times in total
Mission 39: Create a 90 combo
Mission 40: Earn 1,000 coins in 1 play
Mission 41: Earn 10,000,000 points in total
Mission 42: Earn 3,000,000 points in 1 play
Mission 43: Clear 10 Coin Bubbles in total
Mission 44: Create a 150 combo in 1 play
Mission 45: Make a 40 chain in 1 play
Mission 46: Earn 30,000 coins in total

Disney Tsum Tsum - Mission Bingo 2

Description of all missions is available on the wikia page. I started this card right after getting Donald.

The wikia also gives some tips on how to clear each mission. Here's my guide to the trickier (non-grinding) missions based on the tsums I have right now -- I'll update it as I complete missions with what worked/didn't.

Mission 3: Create a 130 combo.
Just got Donald so trying this now. So far my best is 110, but much better than pre-Donald ~90 combos! Hopefully this will also clear Mission 24 along the way (but maybe not...)
Was able to get this after 2 or 3 tries with Donald. Didn't clear Mission 24 though.

Mission 5: Use a Tsum Tsum that makes Magical Bubbles 6 times in 1 play.
Eligible tsums are Horn Hat Mickey, Marie, and Miss Bunny. I don't have any yet

Mission 6: Call a sweetheart and earn 750,000 points in 1 play.
Did this with Cat Hat Minnie, took a couple of tries but not too hard.

Mission 10: Use a tail-swishing skill 5 times in 1 play.
Don't have any of these Tsums yet (Tigger, Cheshire Cat, or Mater) :(

Mission 11: Create a 15 chain in 1 play
Pretty easy with Dale or Ghost Dale.

Mission 12: Use a Tsum Tsum with eyelashes to create a 12 chain.
Used Cat Hat Minnie, not too hard. Tinker Bell is also recommended but I got her after clearing it already.

Mission 12: Clear 500 Tsums using a Tsum from the "Toy Story" series in 1 play.
Don't have any Toy Story tsums yet :(

Mission 13: Reduce Tsum Tsum to 3 kinds 5 times in 1 play (use items and skills).
Don't have Zero, Pascal, or Randall yet :(

Mission 14: Use a skill that calls a friend 6 times in 1 play.
Trying with Dale but haven't gotten this mission yet

Mission 15: Clear 100 Toy Story Tsum Tsum in 1 play
No luck yet. Don't have any Toy Story tsums to force them to appear

Mission 20: Use a Pixar Tsum Tsum to earn 800,000 points in 1 play.
Pixar tsums are listed here -- I don't have any yet

Mission 21: Use a skill that stops time 6 times in 1 play.
Eligible tsums are Pooh, Bumblebee Pooh, Yoda, and White Rabbit. I don't have any yet

Mission 25: Use a canine Tsum Tsum to earn 900,000 points in 1 play.
Easy with maxed Rattle Bones Pluto (from Halloween 2016 event)

Disney Tsum Tsum - Mission Bingo 7

Description of all missions is available on the wikia page. This is the second card I did (so the first one after card 1) because I don't have Donald yet, and wanted to try to get him for all the long combos on the other cards.

The wikia also gives some tips on how to clear each mission. Here's my guide to the trickier (non-grinding) missions based on the tsums I have right now -- I'll update it as I complete missions with what worked/didn't.

Mission 3: Get 7 Fever Modes using a girl Tsum in 1 play.

Mission 5: Earn 900 coins using a Tsum with the initial "P" in 1 play.
Rattle Bones Pluto!! (my highest coin earner anyway)

Mission 7: Create an 18 or greater chain using a princess Tsum.
Only have one princess (Snow White) so hoping to get another princess soon (her skill is useless for this one)

Mission 8: Use your skill 12 times using a center burst skill Tsum in 1 play.
Trying with Thumper but haven't gotten it yet (so far 8 max)

Mission 9: Get 8 Fever Modes using a boy Tsum in 1 play.
???

Mission 10: Earn exactly 230 coins using a Tsum with white hands.
The only two eligible tsums I have are Mickey and Cat Hat Minnie. Haven't gotten this one yet.

Mission 11: Burst 7 Score Bubbles in 1 play.
Trying with Rattle Bones Pluto, probably will need to use some skills like 5->4 or +Time

Mission 12: Clear 500 Tsums using a Tsum from the "Toy Story" series in 1 play.
Don't have any Toy Story tsums yet :(

Mission 13: Clear 11 large Tsums using a Tsum with the initial "B" in 1 play.
Don't have Baymax or any other B's yet :(

Mission 15: Burst 18 Magical Bubbles using a burst skill Tsum in 1 play.
Probably will try Rattle Bones Pluto. This one seems hard for me to get.

Mission 18: Get a 110 combo using a horizontal burst skill Tsum in 1 play.
Probably will try Rattle Bones Pluto. This one seems almost impossible for me to get as my highest combo ever is 90 :(

Mission 20: Clear 130 white Tsums in 1 play.
Trying with Ghost Dale as his skill calls Ghost Chip (who is also white)

Mission 21: Earn 430 Exp using a Tsum with tied hair in 1 play.
Eligible tsums that I have right now are Genie and Tinker Bell. May try this later with the +Exp and +Time skills.
Mission 24: Get a 90 combo using a green Tsum in 1 play.
Don't have any green tsums yet :(

Mission 25: Earn 1,500,000 points using a Tsum from the "Frozen" series in 1 play.
Don't have any Frozen tsums yet :(

Disney Tsum Tsum - Mission Bingo 1

Description of all missions is available on the wikia page

The wikia also gives some tips on how to clear each mission. Since I didn't have all the recommended tsums, here's what I did for the trickier ones.

Missions 5 and 19
No Donald yet :( I just grinded these out using Rattle Bones Pluto and saving bubbles for when I got stuck. Also tried a few times using Dale (using the row of summoned Chip's to make lots of little chains) but found that harder for me.

Mission 12
Since I don't have Minnie yet, I noticed that Minnie often came up when I was using Rattle Bones Pluto, so I used him with the 5->4 skill and got lucky that Minnie was one of the other tsums. I did this also with the +Score boost to clear Mission 8 at the same time and the +Time boost just in case (had free tickets for all the skills from another event).

Mission 13
Thumper is amazing! This allows you to clear Mission 10 at the same time.

Mission 15
Used Dale, took 1 try

Mission 23
Used Dale, took a few tries but was much easier than using Cat Hat Minnie (my other transforming tsum)

Mission 25
Did as recommended on the wikia. Only took one try.

Seagrass Kettle Dye

It's been a long time since I posted anything, and an even longer time since I did anything with my giant undyed wool stash... so I took some dyestuffs that I had around the house and kettle dyed a couple skeins.

Materials used:

  • 2 skeins of Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool (color: Natural)
  • blue liquid food coloring
  • 1 packet lemonade koolaid (actually it was a generic knockoff, but I threw out the package before thinking to write down what it was -- the important details are that it was sugarless and yellow)
  • 1 bag black tea
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon (approximate) turmeric
  • copper penny solution (made by soaking ~100 copper pennies in 1 quart vinegar + water solution for a long time, probably a year -- not really recommended to soak this long)
If you couldn't tell by the materials list, this was an improv job. I was shooting for something with deep blue and turquoise tones. The end result turned out a bit more green/yellow/brown overall and the blue was lighter than I wanted, but it's still pretty.

Thursday night: I loosely reskeined 2 store skeins of yarn and soaked them for 3 hours in the copper penny solution. Then I poured the copper solution back into a container and let the yarn dry on some trays.

Friday morning: In my dye pot (which is never ever used for food!), I wet the yarn a little bit with the copper solution and some fresh vinegar + water mixture. Using 2 skeins of yarn = 1 full pound = very full pot! I started with blue food coloring, squirting a bunch in one area of the pot. In retrospect, I might have needed more blue to get a more saturated color, but it looked super almost scary blue at the time. I also dissolved the koolaid knockoff in about 2 pints of water and poured that on the other side of the pot and made 1 pint of tea and poured it roughly in the middle. Then I poured more water + vinegar in the pot until the wool was covered, and turned on the heat.

About 30 minutes in, I was worried the yellow and light brown were getting overrun by blue, so I dissolved some turmeric in hot water and made some instant coffee and poured those roughly over the yellow and brown areas. As a result, I'm not sure if the almost-fluorescent yellow spots in the final product are from the koolaid or the turmeric... but if I had to guess I'd say the former.

After another 30 minutes (1 hour total), I turned off the heat because I was worried the yarn was starting to felt. I couldn't stop poking at the yarn to try to see what the underside looked like (bad of me!) so it was agitated more than necessary. I left it to cool for several hours on the stove..... then poured out the water.... then lifted the yarn onto trays to cool for another hour or so.

Finally I rinsed the yarn, washed with soap, and laid both skeins out on my drying rack.

Theoretically these should have dried overnight, but I think the skeins were too bulky since there was so much yarn in each one and they were still super damp in the morning. I rewrapped them on Saturday morning and let them dry all day Saturday. And then I rotated the drying racks 180 degrees so the other side was closer to the window and let them dry all day Sunday, just to be safe. Here they are drying this afternoon (Sunday):
skein 1 / side 1

skein 1 / side 2

skein 2 / side 1

skein 2 / side 2
I'll leave them on the drying racks all day tomorrow (Monday), because I have to go to work and won't have time to take them down until Monday evening. Edit: added below pic of finished skeins on Monday night <3
